From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers parties.
Fans can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
